    About Celestite  –

Celestite, also called celestine, forms clusters and geodes of pale sky-blue crystals that look almost ethereal. Madagascan geodes, lined with glittering blue points, are especially loved.

It forms in sedimentary rocks such as limestone and evaporites, where strontium-rich water deposits crystals in cavities and geodes.

    Cool Facts  –

Celestite is strontium sulphate, and strontium is what gives fireworks their crimson red.

Its name comes from the Latin caelestis, "of the sky", for its soft blue colour.

The finest sky-blue geodes come from Madagascar; the crystals are soft and fade in strong sunlight.

Strontium, the element in celestite, gives fireworks their red colour and is named after the village of Strontian in the Scottish Highlands.
