About Amphibole Quartz  –

 

Amphibole Quartz is clear to milky quartz filled with fine fibres and wisps of amphibole minerals such as tremolite and actinolite, often in soft white, peach, yellow and red. The fibres can form cloud-like phantoms and feathery veils inside the crystal, so each piece looks like a tiny cloudy sky.

 

As quartz grew in hydrothermal veins, needle-like amphibole crystals formed at the same time or settled on its surfaces and were then overgrown, locking the fibres inside.

Amphibole quartz is clear quartz holding soft clouds of red, white and gold – the colours come from hematite, kaolinite, limonite and amphibole minerals trapped as the crystal grew.

 

The inclusions often form ghostly inner shapes, which is why it is also called angel phantom quartz.

 

It is found almost only in the Minas Gerais region of Brazil.

 

Most material on the market comes from the Corinto area of Minas Gerais in Brazil, one of the world's great quartz-producing regions.
