    About Quartz  –

Clear quartz, or rock crystal, is quartz in its purest, colourless form, often growing as six-sided points with sharp pyramid tips. It is one of the most abundant minerals on Earth, yet a water-clear point catching the light never loses its magic.

It crystallises from hot, silica-rich fluids in veins, cavities and pegmatites, growing slowly as the fluids cool.

    Cool Facts  –

Quartz is one of the most common minerals in the Earth's crust, yet perfectly clear crystals are the exception rather than the rule.

Its name comes from the Greek krystallos, "ice" – ancient writers believed rock crystal was ice frozen so hard it could never melt.

Quartz is piezoelectric: squeeze it and it produces a tiny electric charge, which is why it keeps time in watches.

The ancient Greeks believed rock crystal was ice frozen so hard it could never melt, and the word 'crystal' comes from their word 'krystallos', meaning ice.
