About Honey Calcite  –

Honey Calcite is a clear to translucent calcite in warm honey and amber tones. It often breaks naturally into slanted, box-like shapes called rhombs.

It forms from calcium-rich water in veins and cavities, with traces of iron giving its golden colour.

Cool Facts  –

Honey calcite gets its amber colour from iron and is found mostly in Mexico.

Calcite is birefringent – a clear piece shows two images of anything you look at through it.

Its rhombohedral cleavage means it breaks into neat slanted blocks.

Look through a clear piece of calcite and you will see writing doubled, an effect called double refraction.
