Pink amethyst gets its soft blush from hematite inclusions rather than the iron and irradiation that colour purple amethyst.
It was only discovered commercially in the 2010s, in the El Chiquada mine in Patagonia, Argentina.
Most pieces form as druzy-lined geodes, so the surface is covered in tiny sparkling crystals.
