Cool Facts:
Blue John is a banded purple-and-yellow fluorite found in only two hills at Castleton in Derbyshire, England.
The name is thought to come from the French bleu-jaune, blue-yellow.
It has been mined for ornaments since the 1700s, and the Romans may have collected it too.
