    About Chevron Amethyst  –

     

    Chevron Amethyst is amethyst layered with white quartz in sharp V-shaped bands. Polished pieces show stripes of deep purple and milky white.

     

    It forms when silica-rich fluids deposit quartz in layers, with iron traces and natural radiation giving some bands their purple colour.

    Chevron amethyst is amethyst layered with white quartz, laid down in alternating V-shaped bands as the crystal grew.

     

    Amethyst is quartz coloured purple by traces of iron and natural irradiation deep in the earth.

     

    Its name comes from the Greek amethystos, meaning "not intoxicated".

     

    The purple colour of amethyst comes from iron traces in the quartz combined with natural radiation from the surrounding rock.
