About Clinochlore  –

Seraphinite is a trade name for a deep green variety of clinochlore, a chlorite-group mineral. Polished pieces show shimmering silvery patterns that look like feathers, which inspired its angelic name. Almost all of it comes from a single region near Lake Baikal in Siberia.

It forms in metamorphic rocks where magnesium- and iron-rich minerals have been altered by heat and fluids, producing fine fibrous chlorite.

Cool Facts  –

Seraphinite is a variety of clinochlore whose silvery feathers are mica flakes within the green.

It comes from only one place – the Korshunovskoye iron mine in eastern Siberia.

The "feathers" look like angel wings, which is how it got its name.

Its feathery shimmer is chatoyancy caused by tiny flakes of mica-like mineral lined up in slightly different directions, so the pattern shifts as you tilt it.
