About Dumortierite  –

Dumortierite is an aluminium borosilicate that gives a denim to navy blue colour to the rocks it grows in. Most tumbled stones are actually quartzite packed with fibrous dumortierite, which gives them a tough, even blue that is often mistaken for sodalite or lapis lazuli.

It forms in aluminium-rich metamorphic rocks and in pegmatites, where boron-bearing fluids are present.
