    About Golden Healer  –

     

    Golden Healer Quartz is a trade name for clear quartz with a natural coating or staining of iron oxide, usually limonite or goethite, giving it a buttery yellow to golden colour. The name is traditional within the crystal world rather than a description of any property.

     

    It forms when iron-rich water seeps into cavities and fractures around existing quartz crystals, leaving a thin film of iron oxide on and just inside the surface.

    Golden healer is quartz coloured by a film of iron oxide (limonite) that coats or seeps into the crystal.

     

    The colour ranges from pale lemon to deep gold depending on how much iron is present.

     

    Most golden healer comes from Brazil, Arkansas and Madagascar.

     

    The 'gold' is essentially rust – iron oxides from the same family that colours much of Scotland's red sandstone.
