About Pink Amethyst –

Pink Amethyst is a soft pink to lavender-pink quartz, usually sold as geode pieces lined with small sparkling crystals. It is often speckled with tiny dark red-brown flecks.

It forms inside gas cavities in volcanic rock, where silica-rich fluids slowly grow quartz crystals; the pink tone is thought to come from fine hematite (iron oxide).

Pink amethyst gets its soft blush from hematite inclusions rather than the iron and irradiation that colour purple amethyst.

It was only discovered commercially in the 2010s, in the El Chiquada mine in Patagonia, Argentina.

Most pieces form as druzy-lined geodes, so the surface is covered in tiny sparkling crystals.

Pink Amethyst only became widely available in the late 2010s, after deposits were found in Patagonia, Argentina.
