Cool Facts:
Septarian nodules formed 50–70 million years ago as mud balls around dead sea creatures; the mud shrank and cracked, and the cracks filled with yellow calcite and brown aragonite.
The name comes from the Latin septum, meaning a partition or wall.
The best pieces come from Utah and Madagascar.
