Cool Facts:
Fluorite gave its name to the word "fluorescence" – many pieces glow blue or violet under UV light.
It forms perfect cubes and octahedrons naturally, and can be cleaved into an octahedron with a gentle tap.
The name Blue John belongs only to the banded purple fluorite from Castleton, Derbyshire.
