About Rainbow Fluorite –

Fluorite is calcium fluoride, forming cubes, octahedrons and banded masses in purple, green, blue, yellow and more, often in the same piece. Its glassy lustre and 'rainbow' banding make it one of the most colourful minerals of all.

It forms in hydrothermal veins, often with lead and zinc ores, as well as in some limestones and granites.

Fluorite gave its name to fluorescence – it was the first mineral seen to glow under UV light.
