About Jasper  –

Jasper is an opaque, fine-grained form of quartz coloured by iron oxides, clay and other minerals, giving it reds, ochres, greens and endlessly patterned combinations. Hard-wearing and earthy, it is one of the most varied and collectable families in the shop.

It forms when silica-rich fluids fill cracks and cavities or replace sediments and volcanic ash, trapping impurities as the silica hardens.

Cool Facts  –

Jasper has been carved into seals and amulets since ancient Sumerian and Egyptian times, over 4,000 years ago, prized for its durability and rich banding.

Jasper's colours and patterns come from the mix of mineral impurities — like iron oxide and clay — trapped in the stone as it formed, which is why no two pieces look quite the same.

Jasper appears among the twelve stones on the breastplate of the High Priest described in the Book of Exodus.
