Ocean Jasper was only discovered in the 1990s along a remote stretch of Madagascar's coast, and much of it can only be mined by boat at low tide.
Its distinctive circular 'orb' patterns form from mineral-rich gas bubbles trapped in volcanic rock as it cooled, with each orb's colour shaped by the specific minerals present.
