About Emerald –

Emerald is the green variety of beryl, coloured by traces of chromium and vanadium, and one of the world's most famous gemstones. Most emerald in crystal shops is opaque rough or matrix specimens rather than clear gem material, but it still carries that unmistakable deep green.

It forms where beryllium-bearing fluids meet chromium or vanadium, usually in pegmatites and schists, though Colombian emeralds unusually grew in hydrothermal veins cutting black shale.
