Cool Facts:
Soapstone (steatite) is mostly talc, the softest mineral on the Mohs scale, which is why it feels soapy and carves so easily.
It has been carved for thousands of years, from Inuit sculpture to Indian temples.
It holds heat well, so it is also used for stoves and cooking slabs.
