    About Firestone  –

Firestone is a grey sodalite-rich syenite that looks like an ordinary pebble by day but glows with fiery orange and yellow patches under a UV torch. It is the same kind of rock as Yooperlite, polished and carved into spheres, figures and beads.

It formed from a slowly cooling, silica-poor magma; the sodalite crystals that grew in it carry traces that make them fluoresce under ultraviolet light.

    Cool Facts  –

Firestone is a sodalite-rich syenite. Chemically it is the same stone as Yooperlite, but it can't be called Yooperlite: that name has been trademarked since 2018 and only applies to stones found in Michigan.

The glow under UV light comes from the sodalite in the stone. In daylight it looks like an ordinary grey pebble.
