About Cavansite –

Cavansite forms small, intense blue rosettes and sprays of crystals, often sitting on white stilbite or other zeolites. The electric colour against a pale matrix makes it one of the most eye-catching mineral specimens you can own.

It crystallises in gas cavities in basalt lava flows, alongside zeolites, as vanadium-bearing water slowly deposits minerals; the Wagholi quarries near Pune in India are the famous source.

Cool Facts –

Cavansite's name is short for its ingredients: calcium, vanadium and silicon.

Almost all of it comes from the Wagholi quarries near Pune in India, where it grows as tiny blue rosettes on white stilbite.

Its electric blue is one of the most vivid colours in the mineral kingdom.

Its name is built from its chemistry: CAlcium, VANadium and SIlicate.
