About Crazy Lace Agate –

Crazy Lace Agate is a Mexican agate with wildly folded, zigzagging bands in cream, grey, brick red, mustard and brown. No two pieces share the same pattern, and its busy, cheerful swirls have made it a firm favourite for tumbled stones and palm stones.

It forms in cavities and fractures in the rocks of Chihuahua, northern Mexico, where silica-rich fluids deposited fine chalcedony bands around iron-oxide-stained layers.

Cool Facts –

Crazy lace agate's swirling bands formed in cavities in 65-million-year-old limestone.

It comes almost entirely from Chihuahua in northern Mexico.

The reds and yellows are iron and aluminium oxides caught up in the layers.

Its tight, contorted folds are unusual among agates, and some geologists think the silica gel was disturbed and crumpled before it fully hardened.
