About Golden Rutile  –

Rutilated Quartz is clear quartz threaded with fine golden, silver or reddish needles of rutile, a titanium oxide. The needles criss-cross like strands of hair frozen in glass, which is why it is sometimes called Venus Hair.

Rutile crystallised first as needles in hydrothermal veins, and quartz then grew around them, trapping them inside the crystal.

Cool Facts  –

The golden needles are rutile, a titanium oxide, trapped inside quartz as it grew.

Rutile is an important source of titanium, used for the white pigment in paint and sunscreen.

The needles are sometimes called "Venus hair" or "angel's hair" because of their fine, silky look.

The French name 'flèches d'amour' means 'arrows of love', imagining the needles as Cupid's arrows caught in ice.
