Holistic Healing:
Traditionally associated with grounding, letting go and steady personal strength. In crystal lore it is also linked to the legs, feet and lower back, to grounding after a stressful day and to letting go of what no longer serves.
Metaphysical Traditions:
Aligned with the Root Chakra and regarded in tradition as a gently protective stone that helps release what no longer serves you.
Cool Facts:
Smokey quartz is coloured brown to near-black by natural irradiation acting on traces of aluminium in the crystal.
It is Scotland's national gem – the Cairngorm mountains gave their name to the dark "cairngorm" stones set in Highland dress.
In 12th-century China, smokey quartz was cut into flat panels to make the world's first sunglasses.
