About Zircon –
Zircon is a heavy zirconium silicate with bright, diamond-like fire. It is found in brown, red, yellow and green, and blue zircon is usually heat-treated brown stone.
It crystallises in granite and other igneous rocks and, being very tough, collects in river gravels.

Zircon is the oldest mineral ever found on Earth – crystals from Western Australia are 4.4 billion years old.
It is a natural gem, not to be confused with cubic zirconia, which is man-made.
Its name comes from the Persian zargun, gold-coloured.
Tiny zircon grains from the Jack Hills in Western Australia are about 4.4 billion years old, the oldest known pieces of Earth.
