Crystals come in many colours, shapes and structures naturally. Clusters of points, solid masses and naturally occurring cubes and spheres. However, crystals are often hand carved into specific shapes. This a tradition which goes back over centuries through many cultures, religions and civilisations across the globe. This stems from the belief that carving a crystal into a shape, we can enhance certain properties or add additional ones to the stone.
Polished crystals are used to enable us to work with the energies in different ways. This works as different geometric shapes direct their energies in different ways. This section is about some of the types of carved crystals.
I will touch on natural crystal formations another time! That area is extensive - and I dont want you reading for hours! 😂
CRYSTAL SPHERES
The sphere is one of the most important shapes in the universe. All of the planets, moon, and sun are all perfectly sphere-shaped. Spheres symbolise not only astronomical bodies but the unification of the mind, spirit, and body.
Spheres radiate energy smoothly and evenly in all directions. Closely connected to the earth, moon and celestial bodies, they can assist with developing clairvoyance. Traditionally used for scrying (Crystal ball divination), they can be used in the centre of a crystal grid for protection during spiritual practises and mediumship.
Spheres can bring a peaceful and grounded energy to your home. They can also slow down and neutralise harmful or unbalanced energies. Spheres are also great for focusing your energy and amplifying energy when meditation and using for manifestation rituals.
CRYSTAL POINTS
They can be stones cut into a Crystal Point shape or a natural Crystal Point which is cut at the base to allow it to stand up. Like all points, they direct and focus energies out the termination point. Carved Standing Crystal Points are often cut into generator point shapes so they help amplify energy and our intentions.
Place them on your altar or within any sacred space. Standing Crystal Points are good for gridding the corners of a room or your home. They also make excellent crystals for the central stone in any crystal grid.
CRYSTAL WANDS
Unlike spheres, which pulse out energy in all directions, wands give the user a bit more control in directing the energy towards a specific direction with an intended purpose in mind. Used for crystal grids, for directional healing and simply for placement in the home. Used primarily during crystal healing and meditation. The most powerful formation is a double terminated point. The energy can flow in powerfully through the crystal point. This can also be found in nature (Herkimer Diamonds) but most double terminated points are carved.
CRYSTAL HEARTS
Crystals cut into a heart shape have been used to represent love, the heart and heart chakra healing. They are used to help you visualise and connect to your true self. They can help heal emotional wounds and balance relationships.
Crystals in any form still resonate. The carved shapes are there to direct, channel or enhance the energies. So which ever form you feel resonates with you - trust your instincts.
