    About Flower Agate  –

     

    Flower agate is a translucent chalcedony from Madagascar with pink, peach and red plume inclusions that look like blossom floating in milky glass. Found only in the late 2010s, it quickly became one of the most requested stones in the shop.

     

    It formed as silica-rich fluids deposited chalcedony around feathery plumes of iron and manganese minerals.

    The "flowers" are plumes of chalcedony that grew in bursts inside the stone, seen in cross-section when it is polished.

     

    Flower agate was only discovered in 2018, in Madagascar, and is found nowhere else.

     

    It is technically a plume agate rather than a banded one.

     

    It has so far been found only in Madagascar, and it only reached the wider crystal market around 2019.
