Cool Facts:
Pyrite's name comes from the Greek pyr, fire, because striking it against steel makes sparks – it was used in early firearms.
It forms perfect natural cubes, and the ones from Navajún in Spain are famous for looking machine-made.
Pyrite fooled many prospectors, but real gold is often found alongside it – and pyrite can contain traces of gold.
