    About Vanadinite  –

     

    Vanadinite forms brilliant red-orange hexagonal crystals that look almost too bright to be natural. It is a lead vanadate, so it is very heavy for its size. The finest clusters come from the Mibladen area of Morocco, often perched on pale barite.

     

    It forms in the oxidised zones of lead ore deposits, where lead reacts with vanadium carried by groundwater.

    Vanadinite is a lead vanadate that forms brilliant red-orange hexagonal crystals, mostly in Morocco.

     

    It is a source of vanadium, the metal used to make steel stronger.

     

    Because it contains lead, wash your hands after handling it.

     

    Vanadium, the element in its name, was named after Vanadís, a Norse name for the goddess Freyja, because its compounds come in so many beautiful colours.
