    About Dendritic Quartz  –

Dendritic Quartz is clear quartz with dark, fern-like patterns inside. The "ferns" are not plants but mineral deposits that grew in branching shapes.

Manganese and iron oxides crystallised in branching patterns along tiny cracks and within the quartz as mineral-rich water moved through it.

    Cool Facts  –

The black "ferns" inside dendritic quartz are not plants – they are manganese and iron oxides that crystallised in branching patterns along tiny cracks.

The name comes from the Greek dendron, meaning tree.

The same branching patterns are found in dendritic agate and merlinite.
