Cool Facts  –

Red tiger eye is golden tiger eye whose iron has oxidised to red – in nature by heat, or more often by gentle heating.

The silky bands are quartz intergrown with fine fibres of crocidolite.

Most tiger eye comes from South Africa and Western Australia.

The golden-to-red change happens because heat turns the yellow iron mineral goethite into red hematite.
