About Tree Agate –

Tree Agate is white chalcedony laced with green, branching patterns that look like foliage. Despite its name it does not have the banding of true agate. It is a hard-wearing, affordable stone popular for tumbles, bracelets and palm stones.

It forms as silica-rich solutions harden into chalcedony, trapping fine green minerals that spread in fern-like dendrites.

Cool Facts –

Tree agate is white chalcedony with green dendrites of chlorite that look like tiny trees or ferns.

Like moss agate, it is not a true banded agate but a dendritic chalcedony.

The ancient Greeks tied it to the branches of trees to encourage a good crop.

The 'trees' are dendrites, the same branching growth pattern seen in frost on windows and river deltas.
